《靈聽》“Ghost On Air”, the brainchild of local director, Cheng Ding An, and Singapore’s famous DJ Dennis Chew, will be in cinemas this coming Thursday, 17 May 2012!

As 2nd Assistant Director and involved in Casting, it was wonderful to be part of this production crew - an unforgettable (first-time feature film) experience behind the camera. Pre-production & production went by slowly, but surely, and I learnt so much every step of the way. It helped that the team felt more like a family with each passing day.

Dennis Chew is a fabulous personality to have on set - non-stop laughter between scenes - and yet, when the camera started rolling, he was extremely professional. The rest of the cast & crew were amazing as well.

Post-production must have been tiring, yet fulfilling, and even though I didn’t play an active part, it is heartwarming to see their non-stop marketing and promotional activities. Every single one of us wants to see this film succeed, that’s how much we believe in it.

The gala premiere is tomorrow night… So exciting!

This is the thing: When you hit 28 or 30, everything begins to divide. You can see very clearly two kinds of people. On one side, people who have used their 20s to learn and grow, to find … themselves and their dreams, people who know what works and what doesn’t, who have pushed through to become real live adults. Then there’s the other kind, who are hanging onto college, or high school even, with all their might. They’ve stayed in jobs they hate, because they’re too scared to get another one. They’ve stayed with men or women who are good but not great, because they don’t want to be lonely. … they mean to develop intimate friendships, they mean to stop drinking like life is one big frat party. But they don’t do those things, so they live in an extended adolescence, no closer to adulthood than when they graduated.

Don’t be like that. Don’t get stuck. Move, travel, take a class, take a risk. There is a season for wildness and a season for settledness, and this is neither. This season is about becoming. Don’t lose yourself at happy hour, but don’t lose yourself on the corporate ladder either. Stop every once in a while and go out to coffee or climb in bed with your journal.

Ask yourself some good questions like: “Am I proud of the life I’m living? What have I tried this month? … Do the people I’m spending time with give me life, or make me feel small? Is there any brokenness in my life that’s keeping me from moving forward?”

Now is your time. Walk closely with people you love, and with people who believe … life is a grand adventure. Don’t get stuck in the past, and don’t try to fast-forward yourself into a future you haven’t yet earned. Give today all the love and intensity and courage you can, and keep traveling honestly along life’s path.

Day 2 of Production - ready, set, GO!

  09:29 am, by this-started-with-glee

I’ll be busy in the next few weeks - starting production on a new movie as 2nd Asst Director. So it’s going to be difficult to come on Tumblr ‘cause I know I’ll be stretched for time & too exhausted some days…

Sigh.

But it’s what I love to do - being on set - so no complaining!

Pre-production Madness~

I apologise for being virtually absent, but I’m currently embroiled in Pre-production madness for an upcoming feature film. As I’ve mentioned before, I’ll be 2nd Asst Director, and was Casting Director for this film.

I’m honestly not used to wielding so much power in a production - being able to set timings & determine when the talents are going to film & come in for rehearsals & imaging. It’s taken quite a bit of getting used to!

And now there’re 12 Days to Production, and I’m slightly panicking because I suddenly realised how much there is to be done before Production Mayhem officially starts up.

But this has been such a wonderful experience thus far - behind the scenes adventures galore.

The theme song of a recent hit Taiwanese movie - “You Are The Apple Of My Eye”. Its simple, heartwarming story about young love brings back memories for the audience. Coupled with brilliant casting, this movie proves that old-school charm still brings people to the theatres.

Just reached Hong Kong today! Set up a meeting with an actor-producer here, hence the journey from Singapore, but I’ve got the chance to be involved in a local shoot tomorrow as an extra. Always great fun being involved in shoots when overseas~!

well "acting contest" as it is an open audition to everyone (non-actors) to receive acting training-> the workshop. sorry if that doesn't make sense :S to try not going to the "safe-route" maybe I can build the girl as a maniac, for example? anyway, thank you so much for your patience and for answering my question ^^ all the best to you too!

hey :) maybe a girl who is desperate to be married - but make sure the dialogue supports that choice - or a girl who thinks that no one else would want to marry her. But I must emphasise that you have to make sure that the dialogue really supports the choice you make.

Best of luck!
